Client Stories
At the Alliance for Interfaith Ministries, we provide emergency financial assistance and supportive programs to under-resourced families and individuals. The stories below reflect the quiet ways support can change a life at the right time.

Vial of Life
AIM serves a senior who lives with an undiagnosed medical condition that causes her to pass out without warning. She has experienced multiple in-patient hospitalizations, but doctors have not been able to identify a diagnosis or provide treatment to prevent these episodes. Because she lives alone, each incident carries added risk.
Through our Secure Seniors program, we were able to offer a practical layer of support. One component of our work is the Vial of Life, a simple form that includes essential medical information, current medications, and an emergency contact. The form is placed in a bright red envelope and attached to the refrigerator door, where EMTs are trained to look when someone is unresponsive.
If first responders arrive and she is unable to communicate, they can quickly access the information they need to provide appropriate care. In situations like this, having accurate information readily available can save time and may save a life.

Practical Support
A senior woman we serve uses a wheelchair and has difficulty keeping her floors clean using standard cleaning tools. Traditional mops require movements and strength that are not safe or practical for her.
She requested a mop with a ringer built into the handle and a bucket designed to make mopping easier and safer from a seated position. This type of equipment costs more than a standard grocery-store mop and was not within her budget.
Through our program, we were able to provide the adaptive mop and bucket she needed. With the right tools in place, she can now clean her floors safely and maintain her home with greater independence.

Addressing Safety Gaps
One of the people in our Secure Seniors program lives in an apartment building with a broken clothes dryer. The landlord has not been willing to repair it, leaving him without a safe way to do laundry at home.
Because of mobility challenges, traveling to a laundromat is difficult and unsafe. He has fallen multiple times while walking to the bus stop carrying a backpack filled with wet clothes. Continuing this routine put him at ongoing risk of injury.
Through our program, we were able to provide a safer alternative. We purchased a clothes drying rack so he could dry laundry in his apartment, along with a walking stick to offer added stability when he needs to leave his home. These supports reduced his risk of falling and helped him manage daily tasks more safely.
